Pinkney L. Near, a former resident of Baltimore and senior research curator at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, died Aug. 29 of pneumonia at a hospital in Hartford, Conn., where he and his wife were visiting relatives. He was 63.
A memorial service for Mr. Near will be held at noon Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Richmond, where he lived.
Born in New York City, he was reared in Baltimore. He was a 1944 graduate of St. Paul's School and a 1950 graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
He is survived by his wife, the former Henrietta Lloyd; two brothers, Randolph Near of Baltimore and Clifford Near of Vienna, Austria; and a sister, Rebecca N. Taylor of Wilmington, N.C.
