Youth wounded at subway station

September 20, 1990

A young Northwest Baltimore man was shot in the throat yesterday evening at the entrance to the Penn-North subway station on North Avenue, city police said.

They did not have a motive for the shooting at 7:50 p.m., which temporarily closed the Metro station in the 1600 block of West North Avenue.

The victim, Antonio DeShield, 18, of the 3800 block of Copley Road was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in critical condition this morning.

Police said they were looking for a black male suspect, between 19 and 22 years old, wearing a red and white puffed jacket.
