Pinkney L. Near Senior research curator

A memorial service for Pinkney L. Near, a former resident of Baltimore and senior research curator at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, will be held at noon Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church there.

Mr. Near, who was 63 and lived in Richmond, died Aug. 29 of pneumonia at a hospital in Hartford, Conn., where he and his wife were visiting relatives.

Born in New York City, he was reared in Baltimore. He was a 1944 graduate of St. Paul's School and a 1950 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University.

He is survived by his wife, the former Henrietta Lloyd; two brothers, Randolph Near of Baltimore and Clifford Near of Vienna, Austria; and a sister, Rebecca N. Taylor of Wilmington, N.C.
