Campaign office burglary probed in Towson

September 20, 1990|By Baltimore County Bureau of The Sun

Baltimore County police were investigating yesterday a weekend break-in at the Towson campaign headquarters of Roger B. Hayden, Republican candidate for county executive.

Sgt. Stephen R. Doarnberger, a police spokesman, said that over the weekend someone scaled a fire escape to the roof over the second-floor office, tore off a wood plank covering a window and broke an 8-inch hole in the office ceiling.

The office is over the Kent Lounge in the 500 block of York Road. Sergeant Doarnberger said that the person may have been trying to break into the lounge.

Police said the person failed to get into the office, but that he or she may have been scared off when someone approached.

The incident occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday, police said.
