Southern Squeezes Past North Carroll

The Southern volleyball team defeated host North County, 3-2, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon. Game scores were 15-9, 9-15, 15-13, 7-15, 15-8.

North County coach Amy Williams cited Elise Maccubin, Kristy Robinson and Karen Seymour for outstanding performances in a losing cause.

TWO LATE GOALS GIVE SPALDING WIN

Freshman Rachel Synowski notched two goals to lead host Spalding to a 3-2 come-from-behind Catholic League win over McDonogh in girls soccer action yesterday.

Kalene Cummings chipped in a goal and an assist for the 2-3 Cavs (2-2 league) while Carrie Lycett contributed an assist.

Spalding goalie Nicole Dunleavy stopped eight McDonogh shots, as the Cavaliers were outshot 10-9.

ST.MARY'S GIRLS FALL TO JOHN CARROLL

St. Mary's girls soccer team dropped its first game yesterday when it fell to John Carroll, 3-1, in the rain in Belair.

Heather greenlee scored an unassisted goal for the Saints (4-1) in the first half,which ended in a a 1-1 deadlock/John Carroll scored twice in the second half for the victory.
