New projects

Mulberry Street (U.S. 40) (downtown Baltimore): Traffic is already severely restricted on this street, which will be closed to traffic next month. Motorists are advised to look for alternative routes.

Beltway (I-695) (inner loop): Right lane closed until 1 p.m. today between Interstate 83 and Charles Street for deck repair. Two right lanes closed until 2 p.m. today between Liberty Road and Milford Mill Road for sign maintenance (two left lanes closed 11 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695): All week, dawn to dusk, one lane closed on bridge in each direction. Today and next Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Ramp A & B at Exit 43 closed. Construction at toll plaza, one lane closed in each direction.

U.S. 50 (Worcester County): Work will begin late this month on the resurfacing of the westbound lanes of U.S. 50 near Berlin from Route 818 to Route 346. Single-lane closures will be in effect Monday through Friday, sunrise to sunset. Work is expected to be completed this fall.

Continuing projects

Bay Bridge (U.S. 50/301): Eastbound toll plaza under reconstruction: single-lane closures Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-noon. Until Dec. 1, vehicles wider than 10 feet, permit hauls or unusual vehicles must exit at Sandy Point and await escort because of limited lane widths at the toll plaza.

Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route 295): Work is under way on a diamond interchange at the parkway and Routes 100/176. This is the first part of a $200 million program to construct Route 100 from I-97 to U.S. 29 in Howard County. Two lanes will be maintained in each direction on the parkway, although both north- and southbound traffic will share the northbound parkway bridge in the early stages of construction. One lane of Route 176 may be closed during the day, except during rush hours.

West side: Work on bridges at I-70/I-695 interchange (completion date: November). Ramp from Beltway to eastbound I-70 closed for bridge repairs; I-70 westbound bridge reduced to single lane for bridge deck rehabilitation. Ramp from I-70 eastbound to Inner Loop closed for four weeks for bridge repair. I-70 westbound bridge reduced to single lane for bridge deck work.

South side: Ramp from northbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway to Beltway closed Monday through Thursday, 9 p.m.-6 a.m., for construction of noise wall.

Northeast side: Delays and single-lane closures, Bel Air Road to Perring Parkway, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Toll facilities

Interstate 95: Occasional lane closings at Tydings Bridge over Susquehanna. Periodic single-lane closings elsewhere in Baltimore and Harford counties for bridge work. Expect delays and lane closures 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on I-95 northbound and southbound between Route 43 and Kenwood Avenue. New traffic patterns will divide through travel lanes on I-95 northbound at the Patapsco River Bridge. Fast lane closed, Metropolitan Boulevard to Baltimore line. Fast lane closed on I-95 southbound from Beltway to Howard County line. In Howard County, peak-hour lane closures on weekdays and during weekends for concrete patching. Delays are likely, and alternate routes should be considered.

Anne Arundel County

U.S. 50/301: Westbound U.S. 50/301 relocated to right. Ramp to southbound Route 2 exits from left lane. Ridgely Avenue bridge over U.S. 50/301 closed. Interchanges with Patuxent Boulevard (Route 665) and I-97 are complete; all ramps open.

Downtown Annapolis: State Circle and two adjoining streets, Francis and School, being rebuilt.

Route 2 (Annapolis area): Construction on extension of Patuxent Boulevard (Route 665) from Route 2 (Solomons Island Road) to Bywater Road (completion date: spring 1992).

Route 3: Extensive construction between Beltway and Route 32 (highway is being upgraded to an interstate). Benfield Road interchange relocated.

Route 10: Extensive construction on southern extension near Jumpers Hole Road and Ritchie Highway. In same area, westbound lanes on Route 100 remain shifted over Jumpers Hole.
