School Design Approved

September 16, 1990

School board members approved the design documents for the proposed addition and renovation of Sandymount Elementary School. The plans will now be forwarded to the State Department of Education for approval.

Plans call for an additional 21,000 square feet to be added to the school to accommodate 600 students. The project cost is estimated at $4 million. The school was built in 1936, and additions or renovations occurred in 1950, 1963, 1969 and 1974.

Construction is slated to begin in spring 1991, and completion is expected in summer 1992.
