"A Journey thru the New Decade in Fashion from Lingerie to Furs," the Soroptomist International Anne Arundel's 12th Annual Fashion Show, is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at La Fountaine Bleu in Glen Burnie.
The fashion show will benefit the Baltimore/Annapolis Wellness Community.
Fashions for the show are from 11 area stores: Annapolis Woman, Athens Men's Formal Wear, August Max, Cameo Bridal & Formal, Cameo Lingerie, Caren Charles, Casual Corner, Expressions, Fur Vault, Hamburgers, LaPetite and Oak Tree.
A cash bar will open at 5:30 p.m, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the fashion show at 8:15 p.m. Donations are $19 per person.
The Wellness Community is a free program for cancer patients and their families that supplements conventional medical treatment and deals with psychological, social and philosophical aspects of cancer.
The group offers workshops and therapy in coping with cancer. In this program cancer patients learn whatever they need to know to participate in their fight for recovery along with their physicians, rather than acting as hopeless, passive victims.
This is a place where cancer patients can gain hope and a renewed will to live from others who are fighting the disease or have recovered from it.
The Wellness Community needs to raise $200,000 to open a facility in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. All proceeds from fund raising go to this goal.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Wellness Community.
This is unusual for the Soroptomists, who normally split the proceeds from their benefits among several organizations. The Soroptomists view the Wellness Community as a worthy enough cause to warrent the 100 percent contribution and hope to contribute a good portion of the needed $200,000 Information: 551-5115 (Libby Ramsbottom) or 255-7818 (Shirley Murphy).
