Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers -- Acquired P Dennis Cook (8-3, 3.56 ERA) from Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for C Darrin Fletcher (hitless in 1 at-bat). Recalled 3B Dave Hansen, C Carlos Hernandez and P John Wetteland from Class AAA Albuquerque Dukes. Purchased OF Luis Lopez from Albuquerque.

Orlando, Fla. -- Named Kansas City Royals C Bob Boone manager, Denny Doyle director of operation and Brian Doyle director of development if city gets NL expansion franchise.

*Dallas Mavericks -- Signed C Jesse Spinner to a one-year contract.

* Colleges

NCAA -- Fined Texas A&M $1,000 and reprimanded school for not reporting ineligible athlete before 1990 track-and-field championships. Ruled Robert Morris basketball player Andre Boyd of Baltimore (Walbrook) eligible for 1990-91 season.

ACC -- Voted to invite Florida State to join the conference.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff -- Announced forfeit of last season's seven football victories and a tie for using ineligible player.

Hawaii -- Suspended RB Jamal Farmer indefinitely for missing practice and conduct unbecoming a Hawaii athlete.

Indiana State -- Suspended QB Marvin Bullock for violation of team rules.

Maryland -- Reported C Chris Kerwin, transfer from Old Dominion, has enrolled and will be eligible in 1991-92 season.

Southern Illinois -- Promoted assistant Sam Riggleman to head baseball coach.

Atlanta Falcons -- Signed NT Tony Casillas to two-year contract.

Hockey

New York Rangers -- Agreed to terms with LW John Ogrodnick. Returned D John Vary to North Bay of OHL; F Greg Leahy to Portland of WHL and F Jason Prosofsky to Medicine Hat of WHL. Released F Scot Johnston.

Soccer

U.S. National team -- Announced G Tony Meola had signed with Watford of England's second division.
