A 26-year-old Baltimore woman who accepted a ride home from a stranger Monday was beaten and robbed in Brooklyn.

Shirl Ann Jenkins, of the first block of Bellman Court, was waiting for a bus at the corner of Towson Avenue and Ritchie Highway at 1:30 p.m. when a man stopped in a car and offered her a ride, a police report says.

After Jenkins got in the car, the man drove north on Ritchie Highway and turned onto Cedar Hill Road. At the end of the road, he stopped and demanded money, police say. When she resisted, the man pushed her out of the car and repeatedly hit her in the face.

The man grabbed her wallet from her purse and ran away. Jenkins walked to a nearby fire station and was taken to Harbour Hospital Medical Center, where she is listed in fair condition.

Police are looking for a white man, 30 to 35 years old, who was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
