The Baltimore Sun has announced an open call for original art with a Maryland holiday-seasonal theme.
The winning design will be used for reproduction as the Baltimore Sun's 1990 holiday greeting card. The program was initiated last year to feature the works of Maryland artists. The art chosen will be purchased by the Baltimore Sun and added to its collection.
The competition is open to all Maryland artists working in all media, styles and techniques. Selection will be made by a Baltimore Sun art committee and will be based on artistic merit and appropriateness for reproduction as a holiday card design.
Submissions must be made by 35mm slide and received no later than Oct. 9, 1990.
Entries should include the following information: the artist's name, address, telephone number, the title of the art work, medium and size. A self-addressed stamped envelope must be included for the return of materials. Slides will be reviewed by Oct. 31, 1990, and the winning art work announced by Nov. 4.
Send submissions to: Dave Belz, Creative Services Manager, the Baltimore Sun, 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md. 21278-0001.
