NFL -- The New York Giants' Lawrence Taylor, who had seven tackles, including three sacks, and forced a fumble in his team's 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. The Green Bay Packers' Anthony Dilweg, making his first start at quarterback, was chosen NFC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 20 of 32 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-24 win over the Los Angeles Rams. David Fulcher, who tackled Ken O'Brien for a safety, then intercepted O'Brien's final pass in the Cincinnati Bengals' 25-20 win over the New York Jets was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Sammie Smith of the Miami Dolphins earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 159 yards on 23 carries and scoring twice in a 27-24 win against the New England Patriots, 27-24.
