Meade Mustangs 1990 Girls Soccer Preview

September 13, 1990

Head coach: John O'Neill (2nd season).

Assistant coach: Dale Adams.

1989 record: 6-5-1.

Returnees: Juniors Amanda Simmons (striker), Heather Pandullo (MF-stopper), Melanie Hudson (stopper-MF), Jennifer Phillips (LW) and Kelly Dryden (sweeper).

Newcomers: Seniors Danyel Simpson (FB) and Stephanie Simpson (FB); sophomores Jenny Goss (FB), Wendy Kendall (FB), Christina Agueda (RW) and Tere Cooper (G).

Coach's outlook: "We have a lot of speed up front. If the midfielders can consistently pump the ball to them, we'll be able to do a lot of things. We may not be one of the best this year, but we'll try to give every team we play a run for their money. I'm trying to get all of my new players ready for our opener against Chesapeake."

Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: The Mustangs have a shot at finishing at the .500 mark. Like Glen Burnie, Meade has something to look forward to in the future, with a host of junior returnees who will get even more experience this fall. The striker and fullback positions look in descent shape. The questions are at goalkeeper and the midfield.
