Talbots at Lake Falls Village hopes to attract the fastest-growing segment of the women's wear market -- petites -- when it opens its new store, Talbots' Petites Sept. 28 with a day of informal modeling and refreshments. Come back a week later to sample Talbots' new perfume, "Talbot," a white floral fragrance that's being launched in October.

Since the Baltimore Talbots happens to be one of the chain's strongest performers in the country, a children's store is also being considered for the area for next spring.

*Summer may be over but the season for wearing white clothing continues yearlong. The White House, featuring clothing and gifts in all shades of white, was the brainchild of Richard Sarmeinto and Patricia Darrow who opened up their first store in the Inner Harbor just four years ago. They now have nine branches on the East Coast and a new catalog is their latest venture. The eight-page catalog lists favorites for shoppers who don't have time to visit the store itself. *Move over Bart Simpson and make way for King Kong. Although it's been years since King Kong took over the Empire State Building, he's back helping publicize Joppa-based Merry-Go-Round's new flagship store located in New York's most famous building. You can buy young men's and women's fashions at any of the 283 retail Merry-Go-Round outlets, but you'll have to travel to New York City to buy their exclusive line of King Kong casual clothing.
