Road Repair Begins

SILVER RUN - The State Highway Administration said resurfacing work will begin this month on Route 97 from 2.1 miles north of Stone Road to the Silver Run Bridge.

Genstar Stone Products Co. of Baltimore County was awarded the $614,223 contract for the 2.5-mile segment of the highway, which also runs through Union Mills. Construction should be complete by next spring.

Work includes safety and drainage improvements as well as paving the shoulders. One lane of the two-lane road will be closed from sunup to sundown, with flagmen controlling traffic.

No lanes will be closed during peak traffic hours from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 7 p.m.
