Kenneth Mackey, a retired Cecil County Circuit Court judge, died Sunday at Christiana Hospital in Stanton, Del., of respiratory failure. He was 71.
Services for Judge Mackey will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hicks funeral establishment in Elkton.
Born in Wilmington, Del., Judge Mackey lived in Cecil County all his life.
He graduated from American University's Washington College of Law with honors in 1955 and began practicing law in Elkton.
He was appointed an associate judge in Cecil County in 1967 and became an administrative judge in 1969. He retired after 16 years on the bench in 1983.
Judge Mackey was a member of the Cecil County Bar Association and its past president.
He was a charter member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 2618, an associate member of the Singerly Fire Company and a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Johns of Elkton; a daughter, Barbara York of Elkton; and a sister, Peggy M. Finger of Elkton.
The family suggested donations to the Cecil County unit of the American Cancer Society or the Cecil County Heart Association.
