At their summit, President Bush and Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev:

Stated that Iraq must leave Kuwait and that the government of Sheik Jaber al-Sabah must be restored.

*Reiterated support for United Nations resolutions against Iraq's @occupation of Kuwait.

*Differed on the potential use of military force but said additional action may be taken if necessary.

*Raised the prospect of allowing humanitarian food shipments to Iraq and Kuwait.

*Urged their negotiators to "move forward more rapidly" on a strategic arms treaty.

*Committed themselves to work on a plan for regional stability in the Middle East after the gulf crisis ends.
